Classic Canasta score calculator

Add canasta bonuses, card points, red threes and going out for one team, then find its next meld minimum.

Count one team’s hand

Enter the previous team total, natural and mixed canastas, table red threes and held red threes. Melded card points must include cards inside completed canastas. Held-card points exclude red threes, which have their own field. Jokers count 50; aces and twos 20; eight through king 10; four through seven and black threes 5.

Classic scoring

Natural canastas add 500 and mixed canastas 300. Table red threes add 100 each or 800 for all four if the team melded; otherwise those values are negative. Held red threes cost 500 each. Going out adds 100, or 200 total for a legal concealed exit. Add melded card values and subtract held values.

Next hand’s opening meld minimum is 15 below zero, 50 below 1500, 90 below 3000, or 120 from 3000. For this hand, use the total before it. The calculator checks basic consistency, not complete meld or concealed-exit legality. Classic two-deck scoring only; modern special hands and three-deck variants are excluded.
