Coffee ratio calculator
Calculate coffee or brew-water mass at a custom ratio. Split a batch into servings and compare nearby ratios using the same water amount.
How to use this tool
Replace the example values with your own, then choose Calculate brew amounts. Changing an input clears the previous result until you calculate again. Copy the result or download a CSV to keep a record.
Method
At a coffee:water ratio of 1:X, brew water mass equals dry coffee mass × X. To find coffee from water, divide water mass by X. Servings divide the batch totals; they do not change the batch size. The comparison table holds water mass constant.
Worked example
At 1:16, 500 g of brew water needs 31.25 g coffee. Split across two servings, that is 15.625 g coffee and 250 g input water per serving.
Assumptions and limits
This tool describes water added for brewing, not drink volume after water retention. An espresso dose-to-beverage-yield ratio is a different measurement. Weigh your amounts; a brewer’s “cup” is not a universal volume. Adjust taste with your own ratio, grind and method.
