Recipe scaler
Scale an ingredient list by servings, including fractions and mixed numbers. Keep original units, review unchanged lines and copy or download the scaled recipe.
How to use this tool
Replace the example values with your own, then choose Scale recipe. Changing an input clears the previous result until you calculate again. Copy the result or download a CSV to keep a record.
Method
Divide target servings by original servings, then multiply each leading ingredient quantity by that factor. Units stay as typed: this tool does not convert cups into grams. Common exact eighth fractions appear beside a decimal value; other quantities display as decimals.
Worked example
For 4 servings changed to 6, the multiplier is 6 ÷ 4 = 1.5. An ingredient of 1 1/2 cups becomes 2 1/4 cups. A line such as “Salt to taste” is retained and flagged as unchanged.
Assumptions and limits
Scale ingredient amounts, then check the recipe itself. Baking time, temperature, pan dimensions, seasoning and leavening do not necessarily follow the serving ratio. For fractional eggs, beat and weigh the contents rather than assuming whole-egg rounding will work. Use no more than 100 ingredient lines.
